Mombasa, Dec 15 (IBNS) Swamibapa Prayer Hall had its grand opening at Shree Swaminarayan Sidha Sijivan Mandal NyaIi in Mombasa on Saturday.

Hindu spiritual leader Acharya Swamishree Maharaj, visiting from India, presided over this five-hour grand opening ceremony and conducted special prayers, which was attended by hundreds of devotees and area leaders, reports suggest.

Meanwhile, distinguished Hindu statesman Rajan Zed, in a statement in Nevada (USA) today, commended efforts of area community for realizing this Prayer Hall.

Rajan Zed, who is President of Universal Society of Hinduism, further said that it was important to pass on Hindu spirituality, concepts and traditions to coming generations amidst so many distractions in the consumerist society and hoped that this new Prayer Hall would help in this direction. Zed stressed that instead of running after materialism; we should focus on inner search and realization of Self and work towards achieving moksh (liberation), which was the goal of Hinduism.

Hinduism, oldest and third largest religion of the world, has about one billion adherents. Mombasa, a regional economic and cultural hub on the coast, is the second-largest city of Kenya.
