Kamal Haasan-founded MNM's first list has good mix of candidates, including retd IPS official

Chennai, Mar 20 (UNI) Testing his maiden electoral waters barely a year after launching his party, actor-politician and Makkal Needhi Maiam (MNM) Founder Kamal Haasan on Wednesday released the first list of 21 candidates for the Lok Sabha polls, that has a good mix of a retired IPS official, a retired District Judge, businessmen and others.

Releasing the list to the media here, he said the candidates were carefully chosen.

Among those nominated were Dr M Logarangan (Australia) for Thiruvallur (R), retired police official A G Mourya for Chennai North, where he had served in several capacities during his tenure,and Kameela Nasser, wife of actor and MNM functionary Nasser for Chennai Central seat, where she would be up against former Union Minister Dayanidhi Maran (DMK) and PMK's Prof Sam Paul.

The list included Engineering graduates, businessman, advocates, including Dalit Munnetra Kazhagam Anbin Poyyamozhi (Villuppurma-R), MBAs, MDs and retired district judge K Guruviah, and entrepreneurs.

Kamal said the second list of candidates would be announced on March 24 during which the candidates for the 18 Assembly bypolls and the MNM's manifesto would be released.
