Kejriwal says Jaitley file behind CBI raid, Union Minister rubbishes claim

| | Dec 16, 2015, at 04:57 am
New Delhi, Dec 14 (IBNS): Arun Jaitley on Tuesday refuted Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's allegations that there were financial irregularities when the Union Finance Minister was the president of the Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA) for 13 years till December, 2013.
This comes after an alleged 'raid' was conducted by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) at the office Kejriwal.

Targeting Jaitley over the same, Kejriwal said, "It has become necessary to reveal that why did the CBI come to my office today and which file they were looking for. This is the DDCA file under which Arun Jaitley is getting trapped," adding, "Rajender is just an excuse, I am the real target."

Reacting to his allegations, Jaitley said the raid "has nothing to do with Arvind Kejriwal."

The Union Minister said the searches were conducted "at 14 places against an officer who is attached to the chief minister's office... regarding a complaint for an offense committed before he joined Mr Kejriwal's office."

Earlier in the day, Kejriwal also attacked Prime Minister Narendra Modi over the alleged 'raid' conducted in his office and said he is not afraid of the CBI.

"Modiji, I am not afraid of CBI. I will keep fighting for the country," Kejriwal told media.

The Delhi CM said he was the target of the raid.

"CBI has raided my office and many other places since morning..If Rajender  Kumar gave wrong tenders during his tenure VAT commissioner then that file will be with VAT department," Kejriwal said.

"In case he did wrong as an education secretary then the CBI should have searched the education department," he said.

"Why didn't the CBI raid offices of ministers in Sheila Dikshit government?" Kejriwal questioned.

"Kejriwal was the target of the raid conducted by the CBI," the CM said.

Kejriwal earlier in the day tweeted that  his office was raided by the CBI and launched a scathing attack on PM Modi by calling him a "coward and psychopath".

According to reports, the CBI raided Arvind Kejriwal’s Principal Secretary Rajender Kumar office over alleged graft charges.

"Which file was CBI looking for in my office? DDCA files in which Arun Jaitley is in dock. I was about to order a commission of enquiry," he said.

The CBI denied that its officials searched the Delhi Chief Minister's office on Tuesday.

Devpreet Singh,  CBI spokesperson, told media: "The CBI is emphatically denying having searched the Delhi CM’s office."

"False propaganda must not be used to impede our investigation," she said.
