Lucknow, Mar 4 (IBNS): BSP supremo Mayawati has rejected reports that her party is planning to tie up with the Samajwadi Party in Uttar Pradesh for the Lok Sabha election.

Mayawati said her party has not entered into an alliance with "any political party".

The BSP chief was quoted as saying to media: " I want to clarify that BSP has not allied with any political party."

She said all 'rumours' about BSP-SP alliance for the Lok Sabha polls were 'false'.

She told media: "We have not floated any candidate for the Lok Sabha Phulpur and Gorakhpur bypolls. "

Mayawati made the remarks at a time when bypolls are scheduled to be held in Gorakhpur and Phulpur Lok Sabha seats.

They were vacated by UP CM  Yogi Adityanath and his deputy Keshav Prasad Maurya.

Pravin Nishad from Gorakhpur and Nagendra Singh Patel from Phulpur has been fielded for the elections by the Samajwadi Party.

A Samajwadi Party leader earlier tweeted that BSP will support  in the LS by-polls in Phulpur & Gorakhpur.

"BSP & @samajwadiparty to fight by-polls together. It’s official. Congrats to both parties & all members . Time to score that win ," tweeted  SP spokesperson Pankhuri Pathak.

By-polls to be held on Mar 11.

Yogi Adityanath-led BJP had removed the SP from power to form the government in Uttar Pradesh last year.

The BJP had won more than 300 seats in the 403-member UP assembly.

The BSP is not contesting in the bypolls.
