#LokSabhaElection2019: Sanbor Shullai is BJP’s candidate for Shillong parliamentary seat

Shillong, Mar 23 (UNI) Former Meghalaya Assembly Deputy Speaker, Sanbor Shullai will be the official candidate of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for the Shillong parliamentary seat, a BJP official said on Saturday.

Shullai, who is the Chairman of Meghalaya Tourism Development Corporation (MTDC), is currently a member of the Meghalaya assembly.

The BJP, which has two members in assembly, and supporting the National People’s Party-led Meghalaya Democratic Alliance (MDA) government, said that it would be fighting the parliamentary elections on its own.

Interestingly, the BJP is yet to declare the name of the candidate for Tura parliamentary constituency.

Shullai will be fighting against incumbent two-time Congress MP Vincent H Pala, Khun Hynniewtrep National Awakening Movement candidate, T H S Bonney and United Democratic Party candidate, Jemino Mawthoh who is supported by MDA coalition partners -- NPP, People’s Democratic Front and Hill State People’s Democratic Party.

Meanwhile, the BJP has also announced Adorsho Sangma as its official candidate for the Selsella by-election.
