New Delhi, Aug 16 (IBNS): Expressing immense grief over the demise of his predecessor Atal Bihar Vajpayee, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday said he lost a father figure.

Modi said the void that has been created in his life today cannot be fulfilled.

"I have lost a father figure today. For me, his demise created a void which cannot be fulfilled," Modi said while addressing the media outside Vajpayee's Delhi residence.

Calling him an 'anmol ratna', Modi said, "Atalji was a true son of the soil."

The PM said although Atalji has left the mortal world, his teachings and guidance will keep inspiring the countrymen.

Atal Bihari Vajpayee, a three-time prime minister of India, a Bharat Ratna and a stalwart of Indian politics who represented the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), passed away at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in New Delhi on Thursday. He was 93.

He passed away at 5:05 pm.
