IG (Operation) Amitav Thakur said the exchange of firing is still continuing inside the Uma forest under Kantamal block .

The security forces engaged in a combing operation came across the Maoists hiding in Uma forest bordering Boudh and Kandhamal district late last night. The Red rebels seeing the security forces opened fire at them and the security forces retaliated.

At least two jawans were seriously injured in the exchange of firing and the police claimed that some Maoists were also injured.
