Kolkata, July 27 (IBNS): Ex-Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Friday met West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee in Kolkata.

Speaking to reporters after meeting the CM, Abdullah said all efforts are being made by regional parties to form a 'federal front' to contest against the BJP in Lok Sabha elections in 2019.

"We want to see all parties that are against the BJP to join the front," Omar told reporters.

He said the BJP-led Central government has failed to solve the problem in Jammu and Kashmir.

"The situation in the state has deteriorated since 2014," he said.

"There are numerous failures of the BJP government," he said.

The Lok Sabha election is scheduled to be held next year.
