Pilots with 1,000 hrs of experience can fly Boeing 737 MAX: Indian aviation regulator
New Delhi, Mar 11 (IBNS) A day after the fatal air crash of Ethiopian Airlines flight with 157 people onboard, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) said only pilots with 1,000 hours of experience can fly Boeing 737 MAX aircraft used by Indian airlines.
The announcement is a part of a new set of guidelines issued by the aviation regulator to enhance the safety of the passengers and crew members.
This comes after Boeing 737 Max-8 en route from Addis Ababa to the Kenyan capital, Nairobi, crashed just six minutes after it took off for the journey on Sunday.
The crash left 157 people killed.
The deceased included eight crew members.
Indian airlines Jet Airways and SpiceJet own and operate these aircraft in India, said reports.
