PM sends central team to the landslide-affected areas in Tawang district

New Delhi, Apr 26 (IBNS) Prime Minister Narendra Modi has instructed a two-member central team to rush to Arunachal Pradesh for an on-the-spot-assessment of damage in the wake of the recent landslide in Tawang District, officials said on Tuesday.

The team will comprise of a Senior Advisor in the Niti Aayog and a Joint Secretary from the Ministry of Home Affairs.

"The Prime Minister has directed the team to make an assessment of the nature of relief and compensation package, after holding discussions with the State and District officials and to submit a report," read a government statement.

The mishap took place on Apr 22.

Prime Minister has already sanctioned ex-gratia relief of Rs. 2 lakh each to the next of kin of the persons deceased and Rs. 50,000 each to those seriously injured in the landslide in Tawang.
