President Droupadi Murmu arrives in Kolkata

Kolkata/UNI: President Droupadi Murmu arrived in the city on Thursday. Governor C V Ananda Bose received her at NSCBI Airport.

The President drove straight to the Raj Bhawan from the airport.

Later in the day, she will name and launch the GRSE's (Garden Reach Shipbuilders & Engineering Ltd) indigenously built 3rd Warship (a stealth frigate for the Indian Navy).

The launching ceremony of the warship will be held at the GRSE's shipbuilding facility on the banks of Hooghly River in the city.

The state-of-the-art ship will be fitted with the latest gadgets and undergo extensive trials before being handed over to the Indian Navy for commissioning into service.

The P17A warships are guided missile frigates, each of which is 149 m long, with a displacement of approximately 6,670 tonnes and a speed of 28 knots.
