President Kovind appoints new governors in five states, LG in one union territory

New Delhi, Sep 30 (IBNS): President Ram Nath Kovind on Saturday appointed governors in five states and lieutenant governor in one union territory, media reports said.

The governors were appointed in states like Bihar, Tamil Nadu, Assam, Meghalaya and Arunachal Pradesh.

New lieutenant governor has been appointed in Andaman and Nicobar Islands.

Banwarilal Purohit became the new governor of Tamil Nadu.

Bihar gets Satya Pal Malik as its new governor since the post was vacant after Ram Nath Kovind resigned to contest the presidential poll in 2017.

Jagdish Mukhi and Ganga Prasad became the governors of Assam and Meghalaya respectively.

While Brigadier Dr. BD Mishra (retired) became the governor of Arunachal Pradesh, Admiral Devendra Kumar Joshi (retired) has been appointed as the lieutenant governor of Andaman and Nicobar Islands.
