UP woman kills husband with boyfriend's help, fakes heart attack death
A 30-year-old man in Uttar Pradesh's Meerut was allegedly killed by his wife and her boyfriend, with the crime initially passed off as a heart attack, police said.
The incident took place in Lohia Nagar in September. The victim, Talib, had been married to 27-year-old Ilma, a beautician, for four years. The couple had a three-year-old daughter.
On the day of the incident, Ilma allegedly told her elder brother, Akram, that Talib had suddenly fallen ill after returning from work. He was reportedly found lying on the bed and died shortly afterwards.
The family initially believed he had died of natural causes and buried him.
Hidden phone leads family to affair
Suspicion reportedly grew later. On October 1, Talib's cousin Rais visited Ilma's house and found Talib's mobile phone hidden under clothes.
According to police, the phone contained a conversation between Talib and a man identified as Aman. In the exchange, Talib had allegedly warned Aman against speaking to his wife.
When family members questioned Ilma about the messages, she allegedly confessed to the killing.
Wife called boyfriend after assault
According to the police account, Ilma claimed that Talib used to assault her.
Police said that following an alleged assault on September 28, Ilma contacted Aman. Aman allegedly arrived with another man, after which the three assaulted Talib.
Aman then allegedly strangled Talib with a chunni. He reportedly later promised to marry Ilma.
Body to be exhumed for autopsy
Sangram Singh, Circle Officer, Kotwali, said a report had been sent to the district magistrate and the body would be removed from the grave for a post-mortem examination.
Ilma is currently under police surveillance, while further action will depend on the autopsy findings and the ongoing investigation.
Police said the post-mortem will help establish the exact cause of Talib's death and provide further evidence in the case.
