Priyanka Gandhi leaves for Rahul's constituency Amethi
Lucknow, Mar 27 (UNI): Congress general secretary for Uttar Pradesh East Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on Wednesday left for Amethi in her next leg of campaigning in the state.
Earlier in the day, she reached the state capital, where she was accorded warm welcome.
Ms Vadra is expected to visit party strongholds Faizabad and Rae Bareli.
Large number of party leaders, including legislature party leader Ajay Kumar Lalu, former Rajya Sabha member Pramod Tiwari, his daughter and MLA Aradhana Mishra Mona and UP BJP general secretary Vinod Mishra, welcomed Ms Vadra at the Lucknow airport.
She met the leaders with enthusiasm and gave a patient hearing to some leaders who spoke to her about their demands.
However, she was annoyed with some party candidates who were there to receive her. "You should be in your constituency rather than wasting time here to welcome me," she said.
Later, Ms Vadra left for Amethi where she is scheduled to meet the party leaders. After a night halt at Bhue Mau guest house in Rae Bareli, on Thursday, she is expected meet the party leaders of Rae Bareli, her mother Sonia Gandhi's constituency.
On Friday, she is expected to leave for Ayodhya where she will worship at the Hanumangarhi temple and later hold a roadshow.
Posters have come up against Ms Vadra in Amethi, questioning her absence in the constituency during the past five years.
The posters which have come up in Musafirkhana area, says, "Kya khub thagti ho, kya paanch saal baad hee Amethi me dikhti ho." (you befool people and show up only after five years).
