"We had a very old relationship with our alliance partners and it is a Sangam of the opposition, " Jayant Choudhury, RLD vice president said.

"We have the blessings of Choudhury Ajit Singh and Mulayam Singh Yadav for this elections to win all the 80 seats," he said.

The formal announcement of the seat-sharing formula was made in a press conference held by SP chief Akhilesh Yadav and RLD's Jayant Chaudhary.

SP president Akhilesh Yadav also claimed that it was an ideological alliance which has been made for the cause of the farmers, youths, traders and the common people.

However, SP president, made it clear that Congress is also with the alliance as we have left two seats for them.

When his attention was drawn on any back door seat adjustment with Congress by giving them 9 seats, he just said "Congress is with us and there is no back door talks with them."

RLD has been given three Lok Sabha seat - Bagpat, Muzaffarnagar and Mathura in the alliance.
While 2 seats have been left out by the SP-BSP alliance and one seat has been give by the SP from its quota of 38 seats.

On February 21, Akhilesh along with BSP supremo Mayawati had announced the allocation of seats to each partner with SP contesting on 37 seats and BSP on 38 out of 80 seats in UP.

Two seats - Amethi and Rae Bareli were left for the Congress. Two seats were initially allocated to the RLD but then SP gave one more seat from its quota to Ajit Singh's party.
