Sheena Bora Case: CBI to quiz Indrani's acquaintances

| | Dec 04, 2015, at 05:58 pm
New Delhi, Dec 4 (IBNS) The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), which is in-charge of the Sheena Bora Murder case, might interrogate the two IPS officers from West Bengal, who Indrani claimed to be her acquaintances, according to reports.

Mukerjea, the prime suspect in the Sheena murder case had identified these two men as friends, after she moved from Guwahati to Kolkata. The CBI is keen on finding out if she had any connection with them, after she moved to Mumbai.

Hindustan Times quoted a CBI official : "We are verifying information drawn from old acquaintances of Indrani, who spoke to the CBI, about her ties with a high-profile group of businessmen and government officials in Kolkata, including two state-cadre IPS officers."

"We would like to know if Indrani had maintained contacts with the two IPS officers even after shifting to Mumbai, (and) if they have any information to offer that may throw more light on the wider conspiracy, including the financial motive,” said the source, adding that “certain old acquaintances of Indrani have described her as an ambitious person and that Peter had helped her establish her business ventures in Mumbai, which brought them closer," the daily quoted.

The investigation agency is also suspecting financial motives behind the murder. CBI is also working closely with international agency Interpol to track several bank accounts in Singapore and Hong Kong, all related to Mukerjea.

Indrani Mukerjea, the wife of ex-CEO of Star, Peter Mukerjea is awaiting verdict and is the prime suspect in the murder of her daughter Sheena Bora, suspected to have committed in 2012.
