Stones hurled at MP CM Shivraj Chouhan's vehicle in Sidhi

Bhopal, Sep 3 (IBNS): Stones were hurled at the vehicle of Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan in Sidhi district of the state, media reports said.

Stones were thrown by miscreants as the Chief Minister is touring the state ahead of the crucial Assembly polls.

Chouhan was not hurt in the incident. He was in Churhat area of the district at the time stones were hurled.

Churhat is the assembly constituency of Congress lawmaker Ajay Singh, who denied his party's involvement in the incident.

Targeting Singh, Chouhan had later dared the Congress MLA to fight with him openly.

"Ajay Singh, if you have strength come in open and fight with me. I am physically weak but I won’t be bogged down by your deeds. People of the state are with me," the Chief Minister has been quoted by The Indian Express.

Releasing a press statement, Singh rebuffed Chouhan's claims.

The Madhya Pradesh assembly elections are significant for both the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the opposition Congress ahead of 2019 General Elections, which will be held in near about six months' time.

While the BJP is trying to continue its dominance over Madhya Pradesh, the Congress is eyeing on to wrest power in the state.

A recent poll survey has, however, predicted a Congress win in the upcoming state polls.

The elections are due at the end of the year.
