Three killed, others hospitalized as wild bear attacks villagers in Garhwa

Garhwa/UNI: As many as three men lost their lives and three others, including a woman, who sustained serious injuries after they came under the attack of a wild bear, in the forest located in Barkol village under the Bargad block of Garhwa district, Jharkhand.

Police on Saturday said the deceased has been identified as Anit Gidh (35), Sumit Gidh (38), and Raju Minz (40), while the injured included Chotu Gidh, his wife Mariyam Lakra, and Kamlesh Gidh. The deceased and the injured hailed from Koriya Kodkar Tola of Barkol village.

The incident took place Friday evening when those people were traveling through the forest back to their village, said the police. All the injured have been admitted at Sadar Hospital, Garhwa while the bodies have been sent for post-mortem, it said.
