TMC supporters allegedly vandalize BJP leader's car in WB

Kolkata, Aug 8 (IBNS): Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Samik Bhattacharya alleged that his car was vandalized by Trinamool Congress (TMC) supporters at Chakdaha area in Nadia district of West Bengal on Wednesday.

Former BJP MLA claimed that few TMC activists showed him black flags and damaged his vehicle's windows and windshield at Chakdaha Chowmatha while he was going to attend a party meeting at Hing Nara area nearby.

"Protesting against the Silchar airport incident and Assam NRC, several leader-activists of TMC intercepted my car and besides showing me black flags and shouting anti-BJP slogans, they vandalized my vehicle," Samik Bhattacharya told IBNS.

"It was a planned attack by TMC and it was very unfortunate that police did not help me during the attack," Bhattacharya added.

Later, police rescued the BJP leader and safely escorted him to the meeting place.

A senior official of Nadia district police said that a probe has begun into the incident.

"A chaos was reported from Chakdaha Chowmatha area on Wednesday and an investigation has been initiated into the matter," the official told IBNS.

"Policemen were present at the spot during the incident. They promptly took action to rescue the BJP leader's vehicle and took him safely to the meeting place at Hing Nara area," he added.

Local TMC leaders, however, denied all allegations against them.
