Twitter interfering in our political process: Rahul Gandhi slams social media giant

| @indiablooms | Aug 13, 2021, at 06:52 pm

New Delhi/IBNS: Congress top leader Rahul Gandhi Friday ripped apart Twitter, which has locked his account over a photograph showing the family of a nine-year-old girl, who was raped and killed in Delhi.

In a video message titled Twitter's Dangerous Game, Gandhi, a Lok Sabha MP, said, "By shutting down my Twitter they are interfering in our political process. A company is making its business to define our politics and as a politician I don't like that."

"This is an attack on the democratic structure of the country," he added.

Attacking Twitter and the Modi government in the same line, the former Congress chief said, "As Indians we have to ask the question - are we going to allow companies, just because they are beholden to the government of India, to define our politics for us?

"Is that what it is going to come to? Or are we going to define our politics on our own?"

Twitter has locked accounts of Gandhi, Congress as well various other leaders belonging to the party.

After the step, some Congress leaders have changed their Twitter name to Rahul Gandhi, in a show of support to the de facto number two in the party.
