Dehradun/New Delhi, Mar 20 (IBNS): The Uttarakhand Assembly Speaker has now issued show cause notices to nine rebel Congress lawmakers who joined the BJP and demanded to the state governor that the Harish Rawat government be dismissed.
In the notice, the MLA's have been asked why their Vidhan Sabha membership should not be terminated under the anti-defection law.

They have been given time till March 26 to respond.

As the Congress faces a crisis of its Government in Uttarakhand, 28 BJP MLAs and nine Congress legislators arrived in Delhi on Friday night to meet the top brass of the BJP on Saturday.

A three-member BJP delegation  met Governor KK Paul on Friday and said the Harish Rawat government was in a minority and demanded its dismissal.

BJP MLA Ajay Bhatt, the Leader of Opposition in the Uttarakhand Assembly, was also a part of the delegation. The Governor told them that action would be taken after gathering sufficient details.

Earlier,  Uttarakhand Chief Minister claimed he had "full majority" and warned of disciplinary action against the rebels.

Rawat had said the party will find out who the rebel Congress MLAs are and "so far, only one face has come to the fore."
