West Bengal: Canal bridge collapses in Siliguri, one minorly hurt

Kolkata/Siliguri, Sep 7 (IBNS): Three days after the Majherhat bridge collapse incident, which claimed three lives, in Kolkata, another bridge collapsed at Phansidewa area in Siliguri city of northern West Bengal on Friday early morning, reports said.

According to reports, a canal bridge collapsed at Manganj area under Phansidewa Police Station limits in West Bengal's Darjeeling district when an empty truck was crossing the bridge.

Driver of the truck was minorly injured in the accident and the vehicle was trapped on the collapsed bridge.

After being rescued, the driver was rushed to a local health centre and he was discharged after first aid.

Local police and other administrative officials are on their way to the site.

Earlier on Aug 11, portion of an under-construction flyover collapsed at Phansidewa's Kantivita area in Siliguri subdivision.
