Anurag Thakur files his nomination for BCCI President election

| | May 22, 2016, at 12:47 am
Mumbai, May 21 (IBNS): Anurag Thakur has filed nomination for the upcoming election for the post of BCCI President.

"BCCI has received nomination only from Mr. Anurag Singh Thakur for the post of President," the board said in a statement.

"Mr. Thakur has been nominated by all six full member units of the East Zone. He will be officially declared elected as the President of BCCI for the remaining term 2014-17, tomorrow at the Special General Meeting," it said.

The post became empty after Shashank Manohar resigned recently.

Manohar elected by the Board unanimously and unopposed as the Chairman of the International Cricket Council (ICC) following the ICC Full Council’s approval of constitutional amendments proposed by the Board following its April meeting.

He is the first elected independent Chairman of the game’s governing body and will commence his two-year term with immediate effect.
