After Brazil, another football spectacle for Kolkata? Barcelona and Real Madrid Legends in to compete in Salt Lake Stadium

Football fans in Kolkata could be in for another high-voltage showdown as legends of FC Barcelona and Real Madrid are expected to face off at the Vivekananda Yuva Bharati Krirangan, popularly known as Salt Lake Stadium, on November 25.

West Bengal Sports Minister Indranil Khan hinted at the development in a post on X, writing: “El Clásico Loading.. #Barcelona Legends vs #RealMadrid Legends.”

The proposed exhibition match is expected to bring legendary football icons associated with the two Spanish clubs to Kolkata, adding to the city's rich footballing legacy.

However, further details regarding the participating players and match arrangements are awaited.

The development comes weeks after Salt Lake Stadium hosted a friendly match between India and Brazil on October 3.

The Indian national team subsequently faced Uruguay in another friendly at the venue on October 6.

The high-profile international fixtures once again brought the spotlight on Kolkata's enduring passion for football and its reputation as one of India's most prominent football centres.

The rivalry between Barcelona and Real Madrid, popularly known as El Clásico, is among the most celebrated contests in world football.

A meeting between legends of the two clubs would offer Kolkata fans an opportunity to witness a nostalgic clash featuring former stars of Spanish football, provided the event goes ahead as indicated.
