Australia beat Pakistan by 21 runs

Chandigarh, Mar 25 (IBNS) Australia defeated Pakistan by 21 runs in a ICC World T20 match here on Friday.

Posting 193 for four on the scorecard, Australia restricted Pakistan at 172 for eight in their 20 overs.

Khalid Latif (46) top scored for Pakistan as he smashed four boundaries and a six for Pakistan.

It was Shoaib Malik who tried to give Australian bowlers some challenge with his 20-ball 40 runs knock. He hit two boundaries and two sixes in the knock.

Umar Akmal (32) and Sharjeel Khan (30) could not convert the start they got in the match.

Australian bowlers bowled tight and it was James Faulkner who alone shattered the Pakistani batting line up by taking five wickets in his deadly four overs spell.

He gave away 27 runs in his four overs.

Shane Watson (44*) and Steve Smith (61*) put up 74 runs stand to post 193 runs for the loss of four wickets on the scoreboard against Pakistan in a crucial ICC World T20 match here on Friday.

The duo played some charismatic shots in their fifth wicket partnership against Shahid Afridi-led team's bowlers to post a competitive total on the scoreboard.

Smith hammered seven boundaries in his 43-ball innings.

In his 21-ball knock, Watson smashed four boundaries and three sixes.

Wahab Riaz and Imad Wasim took two wickets for Pakistan.
