Australian Open: Rohan Bopanna, Divij Sharan reach next round
Melbourne, Jan 19 (IBNS): Showing their skills to perfect use, Rohan Bopanna and Divij Sharan of India have won their respective doubles clashes to reach the pre-quarters stage of the Australian Open.
Indo-French combination of Bopanna and Edouard Roger-Vasselin reached the next round of the tournament by defeating Portugal’s Joao Sousa and Leonardo Mayer of Argentina 6-2, 7-6 (7-3).
The Indian-French pair did not face much resistance from the opponents.
However, Divij Sharan caused an upset when he paired with American Rajeev Ram to beat Italian Fabio Fognini and Spain’s Marcel Granollers in a well-battled three-set clash.
Sharan and Ram defeated their opponents 4-6, 7-6 (7-4), 6-2 .
