Javagal Srinath spotted in Metro, internet can’t stop praising his ‘simplicity’

Srinath, who played a key role in several of India's victories during his international career, was seen standing in a corner of the metro coach while holding his trolley bag.

Dressed in a simple blue shirt, the former cricketer and current ICC official appeared relaxed as he listened to music through his earbuds during the journey.

The video has drawn widespread reactions from social media users, many of whom praised Srinath for his simplicity despite his successful cricket career.

"Simplicity overloaded," one user wrote.

Another user reflected on how people often associate wealth and social status with outward displays of success.

"We live in systems that lean heavily on external markers—titles, income, neighbourhoods or the brands people wear—as mental shortcuts to assess value or status quickly," the user wrote.

Neetu Khandelwal, who shared the video, wrote that the image of Srinath travelling on a metro had gone viral because of his decision to use public transport despite his successful career and comfortable lifestyle.

"Generally, humans have a tendency to judge people based on their social status. If someone is wealthy, then he can't be humble. If someone is poor, then he can't afford flamboyance. Wise and learned people remain grounded irrespective of their social status," she said.
