Australia's upcoming tour to Bangladesh in 'June' unlikely now, feels Tim Paine

Tim Paine and his men were scheduled to play two-Test series against Bangladesh beginning June 11 in Chattogram.

The second match is scheduled to be played in Dhaka on June 19.

The series assumes to be significant as the series is part of the ICC World Test Championship.

For both the team 120 points will be at stake and Australia will have a golden oppurtunity to gain ground in the Championship against current leader India.

With 296 points, Australia currently stands on the second position just below India (360 points).

Paine conceded "you don't have to be Einstein" to realise June's two-Test tour of Bangladesh is unlikely to proceed as scheduled, potentially robbing Australia of a golden chance to gain ground on WTC leaders India.

"I hope they don't push it back too far for my sake, that's for sure,"Paine, who turns 36 in December, was quoted as saying by Cricket Australia.

"Some series have been cancelled and whether ones going forward are going to be continually cancelled or we're going to postpone them (is uncertain)," he said.

"Maybe the players are going to have to go through a period where we play quite a bit of cricket if we want to complete the Test Championship as it is," he said.
