BCCI denies appointment of Ravi Shastri as head coach of Indian team
Reports said earlier in the day, former Indian cricketer Ravi Shastri has been named as the coach of the Indian cricket team.
Amitabh Choudhury at a press conference on Tuesday said the Cricket Advisory Committee is still in discussion and the decision not finalised yet. "Lets not put out something which is not true" he said.
On Monday, the Cricket Advisory Committee (CAC), comprising of former cricketers like Sachin Tendulkar, Sourav Ganguly and VVS Laxman, decided to hold on for some time to announce the name of the selected panelist.
At a press conference, Ganguly said: " We want few days more to announce." He even said that CAC would talk to the present Indian captain Virat Kohli before announcing the name.
The former Indian captain informed that the whole process of selection is concluded and just the decision and announcement are awaited.
Lal Chand Rajput, Virender Sehwag, Richard Pybus, Ravi Shastri and Tom Moody were interviewed. Phil Simmons could not give the interview on Monday to the CAC.
Former legendary spinner Anil Kumble, who was appointed as the coach by the CAC a year back, resigned following the rift with Indian captain Virat Kohli, immediately after the Champions Trophy last month.
While the Cricket Advisory Committee had endorsed an extension to his tenure as head coach, Kumble decided not to continue.
