Kolkata, Aug 19 (IBNS): Quess East Bengal FC (QEBFC) announced that it has signed Nigerian international footballer Gambo Muhammad for the 2018-2019 football seasons.
Gambo, who has moved from Nigerian Premier Division club Kano Pillars, is one of the highest goal scorers for the Club.
A seasoned professional, who takes inspiration from Cristiano Ronaldo, has won three NPFL titles with the Kano Pillars in his 10+ year association with the club.
One of the cult heroes for his fans, the 30-year-old skipper has played for the CAF Champions League and was also part of Nigeria Football Team aka Super Eagles, in the match against world champions Spain at the 2013 FIFA Confederation Cup in Brazil.
His first international goal, however, was for Nigeria's B team in the CAF CHAN qualifier against Côte d'Ivoire at Kaduna.
The striker joins the league of international players in East Bengal FC which has also recently signed Costa Rican defender Johnny Acosta. The registration of Gambo Muhammad is subject to medical tests and immigration clearances.
Confirming the new signing, QEBFC CEO, Sanjit Sen, said, “We are now taking giant leaps to continue the legacy of the 99-year brand and take it to next level. Gambo, who is Kano Pillars all-time leading scorer with over 70+ goals under his name, comes with immense experience & skills. His winning attitude will be a source of inspiration for the fellow team members to bring more laurels to the club.”
Thrilled with the new association, Gambo Muhammad said, “It is a great pleasure to be associated with the legendary club and I am excited to keep living my passion for football and keep performing well as we strike more goals together.”
