London, Apr 10 (IBNS): English cricketer Ben Duckett faced criticisms from Indian fans online after he called Indian Premier League side Royal Challengers Bangalore as a 'joke'.

The cricketer was amused by the messages he received from RCB fans on Twitter following his comment on the micro-blogging site.

He said his intention was misinterpreted and he was expressing awe at the presence of popular cricketers, including skipper Virat Kohli, Brendon McCullum and AB de Villiers, in the team.

His first tweet on Apr 8 read: "RCB’s team is a joke #IPL."

After facing the wrath of cricket lovers online, he soon came out with an explanation where he said: "Woken up to these and many more horrible messages. Yesterday I referred to RCB as a ‘joke’ meaning they have such a good side with the likes of de kock, de villiers, kohli, McCullum and lots of other world class players. These types of messages are not acceptable."

The cricketer, however, said the messages he received following his comment on Twitter were not acceptable.

Kolkata Knight Riders defeated RCB in their first clash on Sunday.
