Mumbai/IBNS: Skipper Faf du Plessis' 96 and a four-wicket haul by Josh Hazlewood helped Royal Challengers Bangalore to defeat KL Rahul's Lucknow Super Giants in the Indian Premier League (IPL) here on Tuesday.

Batting first, Bangalore got off to a poor start losing Anuj Rawat for four and Virat Kohli first-ball duck.

Faf then took charge of the batting, stitching small partnerships at various levels of the match.

Though he missed his first IPL century by four runs, Faf led Bangalore to score 181/6 in 20 overs.

Lucknow never looked comfortable in the run chase as they kept on losing wickets at regular intervals.

Krunal Pandya was the top scorer for Lucknow with his 42 off 28 balls.

Hazlewood scalped four Lucknow wickets conceding 25 runs in four overs.
