India and Australia face off in Ranchi for first T20 cricket match of the current series
Play is scheduled to start at seven pm at the JSCA International Stadium Complex, Ranchi.
India has already defeated Australia 4-1 in the recently concluded one-day series.
Australia will be without skipper Steve Smith who is out of the game with a shoulder injury, media reported.
Cricket Australia confirmed that vice-captain David Warner will stand in as captain for the three-match T20 series, media reported.
India has won the last six T20 internationals between these teams; the last time India lost to Australia was in September 2012 at Colombo.
