Injury likely to rule Virat Kohli out of Surrey stint

Mumbai, May 24 (IBNS): The plans were in place in accordance with Indian cricket captain Virat Kohli's preparation for India's upcoming tour of England, but a sudden injury might cut short his English country stint, reports said on Thursday.

The star batsman had signed a deal with English premier division county side Surrey, ahead of the Test series against England, but according to Times of India report, Virat is suffering from fatigue and slipped disc.

Doctors have also advised Virat that any more stress can aggravate his condition and may render him unfit for the upcoming series.

In a glittering Test career, England has been the Indian batsman's Achilles Heel, where his average lingers around in its teens, compared to robust figures in other places.

In the last one year, Virat has played 47 of the 59 international matches that the Indian team has been a part of. Put this together with the highly competitive and physically demanding Indian Premier League season, and his injury remains a mystery no more.

Kohli, however, will not be needing a surgery, the doctors have said.

Reacting to the news, a BCCI official was quoted as saying by the Times Of India: "Kohli was not to feature in the historic maiden Test match against Afghanistan next month, and now with this injury, his county stint will not take off either
