IPL: KKR beat Kings by 7 runs
After scoring 164 runs for the loss of three wickets, Kings XI Punjab gave a hosts a challenging reply but fell seven runs short as they were restricted at 157 for the loss of nine wickets.
Glenn Maxwell hammered six boundaries and four sixes as he smashed 42-ball 68 but it was his wicket which hit the Kings badly.
Axar Patel(21) and Indian Test keeper Wriddhiman Saha(24) all failed to convert the start they got in the match.
Russell picked up four wickets by giving away 20 runs.
Earlier, Robin Robin Uthappa (70) and Gautam Gambhir (54) guided KK to a competitive 164 on the scorecard.
The duo added 101 runs on the opening wicket stand.
Yusuf Pathan (19*) and Russell (16) added quick-fire runs at the end.
KKR lost all their wickets as run outs.
