Jammu and Kashmir: LG Sinha inaugurates women's cricket tournament at Anantnag

Srinagar: J&K Lt Governor Manoj Sinha on Saturday inaugurated Jammu and Kashmir Police women’s 2020 cricket tournament at Degree College, Anantnag.

A statement said teams from Anantnag, Kulgam and Pulwama are participating in the tournament.

Ex-Indian cricketer Suresh Raina was present on the occasion.

The LG congratulated the young players for their efforts and wished them a bright future.

The statement said SSP Anantnag, Sandeep Chaudhary has been organising various activities for youth development in south Kashmir.

“Last week a chess tournament was organised in which 130 young men and women participated. This is the first time that a Women’s tournament is being organised by Anantnag police,” said the statement.

It said all participating teams will be provided kits and travelling allowance.

“The winner and runner up teams will get trophies and cash prizes, said the statement, adding during today’s event Raina also interacted with teams.

Farooq Khan, Advisor to the LG; Shaleen Kabra, Principal Secretary Home; IGP Kashmir, Vijay Kumar; DIG SKR, Atul Goel and DC Anantnag were present on the occasion.
