Hyderabad, Mar 2 (IBNS): A rock-solid partnership by Kedar Jadhav and former skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni guided India to a six-wicket victory in the first One Day International (ODI) match at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium here on Saturday.

Jadhav and Dhoni remained unbeaten 81 and 59 respectively as India chased down 237 with 10 balls to spare.

In reply to Australia's 236/7 in 50 overs, India scored 240/4.

Apart from Jadhav-Dhoni, Indian captain and vice-captain, Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma, contributed 44 and 37 respectively.

For Australia, Nathan Coulter-Nile and Adam Zampa shared two wickets each.

In the Australian innings, Usman Khawaja (50), Glenn Maxwell (40) and Marcus Stoinis (37) were the top scorers.

Though the Australian middle-order crumbled in front of the Indian bowlers, wicketkeeper-batsman Alex Carey and Coulter-Nile enabled the visitors to achieve a respectable total with their respective innings of unbeaten 36 and 28 runs.

Mohammed Shami, Kuldeep Yadav and Jasprit Bumrah picked two wickets each.

Jadhav, who shown his charismatic batting, also picked a wicket.

After registering the win, India are now leading the five-match ODI series 1-0.
