Kohli-Shikhar-Dhoni shine as India beat Bangladesh to win sixth Asia Cup title

Dhaka, Mar 6 (IBNS) MS Dhoni smashed two massive sixes and scored 20 not out as he helped India beat Bangladesh by eight wickets in the final clash to lift the Asia Cup here on Sunday.

After restricting Bangladesh at 120 for five, India reached 122 runs by losing two wickets with Dhoni (20*) and Virat Kohli (41*) remaining unbeaten till the end.

Hardly getting much oppurtunity to bat in the Asia Cup so far, Dhoni came down with a purpose and hammered 20 runs off six balls to help India reach the target with seven balls to spare.

Shikhar Dhawan top scored for India with his 60 runs.

He hit nine boundaries and six and together with Kohli put up 94 runs in the second wicket partnership which moved India closer to victory.

Rohit Sharma (1) departed early and since that point it was Kohli and Dhawan who anchored the innings and moved the ship closer towards the target.

After Dhawan departed, Dhoni came down with a purpose and along with Kohli smashed 20 runs off the 14th over which was bowled by Al-Amin Hossain to reach the target. Dhoni contributed 17 runs in the over, which included hitting two sixes and a boundary.

Dhawan was adjudged the Man of the Match while the Man of the Series title was clinched by Sabbir Rahman of Bangladesh.

Indian skipper MS Dhoni thanked the top-order batsmen for making the job easier in the end.

He said his team looked good and were on track for the ICC World T20.

"Everyone is taking responsibility to finish the game," Dhoni said.

Bangladesh skipper Mashrafe Mortaza said it was 'upsetting' that his team could not clinch the trophy.

"I am congratulating the boys for making it this far. They played really well," the captain said.

The match was reduced to 15 overs per side due to rain.
