Kohli smashes century to help India beat Sri Lanka by six wickets, win series 5-0

Colombo, Sept 5 (IBNS): Indian skipper Virat Kohli led from the front as he smashed unbeaten 110 runs to help his side beat Sri Lanka by six wickets in the fifth and final match of the series here on Sunday.

After bowling out Sri Lanka for 238 runs, Indian batsmen played smoothly to win the match as they scored 239 runs by losing four wickets with 21 balls to spare.

Kohli smashed nine boundaries in his 116 balls knock.

Kedar Jadhav gave him good support on the other end with his 73-ball 63, hitting seven boundaries in his knock.

Rohit Sharma (16) and Ajinkya Rahane (5) departed early but Sri Lankan bowlers could not take advantage of the situation.

Kohli and Manish Pandey (36) and Jadhav joined in creating crucial partnerships which eventually sealed the match and series 5-0.

Sri Lanka were earlier bowled out for 238 runs.

Lahiru Thirimanne  remained the top scorer for the side with 67 coming from his willow.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar picked up five wickets for India.
