Melbourne, Jan 18 (IBNS): MS Dhoni maintained his dominance in the series and once again helped India in reaching the winning score of 234 runs to ensure a seven wickets victory against Australia in the third ODI match here on Friday.

This is the first time India won a bilateral series in Australia.

After winning the Test series, India won the ODI series 2-1 now.

Dhoni, who has always been known as a great finisher, scored unbeaten 114-ball 87 runs as he guided India to another memorable victory.

He has scored a fifty in all the three matches of the series.

He guided India to victory in the second ODI match of the series as well.

Apart from Dhoni, Kedar Jadhav (61), who is known for his brilliant fight in winning the Asia Cup final last year, and Virat Kohli 46) scored runs that helped India in the match.

After bowling out Australia for 230 runs, India reached the target of 234 runs by losing three wickets with four balls to spare.

Dhoni, despite receiving criticisms in recent time for his slow batting in the first match of the series, played a crucial role in the remaining two as he proved that he still has the old love of guiding the side to victory in tough situations.

A superb bowling by spinner Yuzvendra Chahal helped India to bowl out Australia for 230 in the third and final One Day International (ODI) match at the Melbourne Cricket Ground here on Friday.

Chalal picked six wickets for 42 in 10 overs.

For Australia, Peter Handscomb was the top scorer with his 58-run innings.

Shaun Marsh scored 39 off 54 balls.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Mohammed Shami shared two wickets each.
