MS Dhoni joins Indian Army battalion in Bengaluru: Report

| @indiablooms | Jul 25, 2019, at 02:39 pm

Bengaluru, July 25 (IBNS): Former Indian skipper and cricketer Mahendra Singh Dhoni has joined the Indian Army battalion in Bengaluru as he took a two-month sabbatical from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) to serve the Army, media report said.

Dhoni holds the honorary post of Lieutenant Colonel in the Parachute regime of the Territorial Army.

Talks of Dhoni's retirement was doing the round after the former skipper's performance came under the scanner due to his poor strike rate in the recently-concluded World Cup.

Though he scored 273 runs in 9 innings, Dhoni failed to win matches for India at crucial junctures in a number of matches.

Due to his commitment to the Army, the former skipper had made himself unavailable for the India's tour of Windies beginning in early August.
