Our mindset will not differ in the semi final: Virat Kohli

India will take on Bangladesh in the second semi final on Thursday.

Speaking about the high voltage semi final, Kohli said: "We have been in these kind of games before quite few times. There are no guarantees in this sport as we have seen lot of surprises in the league stages. Oppositions are not taking anything for granted. We will take whatever we have in this tour to execute and not think about past tournaments, going into a big game like this. We will treat it like we treated the last game."

India outplayed South Africa in their last league match by eight wickets to reach the semi final.

India will play the subcontinent team, Bangladesh, in the semi final battle.

Apart from India and Bangladesh, Pakistan is the third subcontinent team to play the semi final against England.

Though India is much ahead of Bangladesh in the ODI rankings, Kohli do not want to under rate his opponent, ahead of the crucial match.

"They have cricketers who are skilled and committed to take the Bangladesh ahead in the tournament. They are very keen to win lot of matches at this level and that is reflected in their attitude. They showed composure the way they chased down the total on the other day (against New Zealand) which is always a sign of maturity. Now they know how to win matches from difficult situations."

Bangladesh defeated New Zealand in a league match by three wickets from a difficult situation, boasting on the knocks of Shakib Al Hasan and Mahmudullah.

India met Bangladesh in big tournaments on various occasions in recent times and each time men in blue came out as a better side.

The battle between the two teams sparked controversies too. Back in 2015 World Cup match, Bangladesh alleged that ICC favoured India as Rohit Sharma was given not out in a close call by the umpire, who ended up scoring a ton.

Later during Asia Cup and T20 World Cup in 2016, a Bangladesh newspaper printed a picture of Indian players whose hairs were shaved while a picture of beheaded MS Dhoni went viral on Facebook.

The Indian captain do not bother to give much attention to these incidents, as he feels it to be too old to be talked about. "It has been 24 months. I seriously do not feel anyone thinking about that game. We played so many matches with each other since then and we are certainly not going out to prove a point to anyone. As a team, we just want to play good cricket" he said. "Our opposition could be anyone. Not really thinking about what happened in the past or things that goes on at the international level."

Kohli hinted that India would go with the front line spinner Ravichandran Ashwin in this match too, who gave a breakthrough in the clash against South Africa on Sunday.

Ashwin was made to sacrifice his spot in the Indian team for Ravindra Jadeja, in the first two games of the league stage.

He feels that there is absolutely no reason to drop Ashwin and bring back Umesh Yadav, who had been brilliant in the practice match against Bangladesh.

Kohli, who was brilliant in the knock out matches of ICC tournaments each time, said his attitude remains unaltered in all matches.

"My thinking always remain same for an IPL game or first class or while playing for India and try to take the team to a good position and win matches for India. Its not like that I need extra motivation for the knock out stages. I think group stage is the toughest in these tournaments because we need to qualify playing three matches against different oppositions. Once we reach the knock out stages, the team goes to a different zone. Everyone remains motivated so I have no special plan for the match. I try to keep things simple." said the Indian captain.
