Dubai/UNI: After bagging two wickets in Scotland's innings on Friday, Jasprit Bumrah became India's highest wicket-taker in T20Is with 64 wickets, a wicket more than leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal.
The speedster crowned the title when he removed Scotland’s Mark Watt in 18th over.
Shakib al Hasan of Bangladesh is the highest T20I wicket-taker in the world with a staggering 117 wickets in 93 innings.
Bumrah however equalled Dale Steyn, who picked 64 wickets in 47 innings, while the Indian pacer took 53 innings to reach the milestone, at an average of 19.85 and an economy of 6.55.
"He is a different kind of bowler. He is difficult to face. He has incredible power at the crease. He can bowl at an incredible pace and then he can fix a batsman with a slower delivery," Styne told official broadcasters.
Ravichandran Ashwin is the third highest wicket-taking bowler in T20Is with 55 wickets from 48 matches. Pacer Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Ravindra Jadeja are fourth and fifth highest wicket-taking bowlers in T20Is, with 50 wickets from 52 and 43 wickets from 54 matches.
Bumrah also has the distinction of hurling most number of maidens in T20Is, with eight overs, followed by Mustafizur Rahman and Nuwan Kulasekara, with six maiden overs each.
He made his T20 debut against Australia, at Adelaide in January 2016.
