Rafael Nadal wins US Open by beating Russian Daniil Medvedev in grand final

New York, Sept 9 (IBNS): In one of the greatest finals ever played, Spanish tennis star Rafael Nadal added one more feather to his cap as he defeated Russian Daniil Medvedev to clinch the US Open on Sunday.

This was his 19th Grand Slam title.

In his way to winning the match, following a major comeback, Nadal beat his opponent  7-5 6-3 5-7 4-6 6-4.

Both the players maintained momentum in the match which kept on moving from one side to another.

The match lasted for four hours and 50 minutes.
It was just four minutes shorter from the longest US Open final.

"It has been one of the most emotional nights in my tennis career," Nadal was quoted as saying by BBC. "It has been an amazing final. It has been a crazy match."
