Ramayush Ray leads by two at the Milky Moo RCGC Challenge 2018

Kolkata, June 27(IBNS): Local lad Ramayush Ray took a two stroke lead at the end of the first day of the Milky Moo RCGC Challenge here at the Par-72 Royal Calcutta Golf Club. Ramayush shot 41 and 38 on the front and back nine respectively for a total over seven-over par 79 to take his advantage into the final round on Thursday.

Aroush Tagore is placed second after carding 81 followed by Pinku Das a further stroke behind in third. Manav Bansal and Saquib Hussain shot 85 and 86 respectively to complete the top five places. Ramayush also leads the Category B event by three strokes over Pinku.

Viranca Poddar and Rishi Biswas are tied at the top of the Category C leaderboard after shooting 94s as Rishi lost momentum on the back nine. Kabir Mehta is placed three strokes behind the duo at 97 and his birdie hitting abilities gives him a chance to challenge the leaders tomorrow.

Category D is led by Siliguri’s Ribhav Verma by two strokes over Aditya Khaitan after carding an opening round of 83. Anshul Mishra is a further two strokes behind at 87.

Young Varish Mohta leads the Category E event after managing a ten-over 46 round on the opening day. Hredaan Raj Bihani is second four strokes behind followed by Aranyak Chakraborty at 52.

Amongst the Girls, Yaalisai Verma leads Category A&B combined while Anwesha Das is the Category B leader. Kairshma Samadder looks on her way to capturing the Category C title holding a ten stroke lead while Anaahat Bindra is all but assured of the Category D title after her overnight lead of 23 strokes.

On the sidelines of the main event, a special parent-child putting competition was held. The preliminary rounds saw four parent-child combos tied for the top in the non-golfing parents category while in the golfing parents category, there is a tie amongst two teams. The playoff for both will take place just before the prize presentation ceremony on the final day tomorrow.
