Royal Challengers Bangalore outplay Mumbai Indians by 14 runs, make comeback in IPL 2018
Bengaluru, May 2 (IBNS): Keeping the hopes of reaching the play-offs alive, Royal Challengers Bangalore outplayed Mumbai Indians by 14 runs in the 11th edition of Indian Premier League at the M.Chinnaswamy Stadium here on Tuesday.
Defending a total of 167, Bangalore, with the help of an economical death bowling, restricted Mumbai to 153/7 in 20 overs.
Tim Southee, Umesh Yadav and Mohammed Siraj shared two wickets each for Bangalore.
Hardik Pandya's 50-run knock proved vain as Kohli's boys choked Mumbai towards the end of the match.
Earlier riding on Manan Vohra's 45 (31) and couple of thirties from Brendon McCullum and skipper Kohli, Bangalore scored 167/7 in 20 overs.
Before shining with bat, Hardik picked three crucial Bangalore wickets with ball. He conceded 28 runs in three overs.
After the win, Bangalore jumped to the fifth spot with six points.
The loss has made the road for Mumbai tougher as they are reeling at seventh position with just four points.
