New Delhi/IBNS: Indian cricketer Shikhar Dhawan, who is known to play an aggressively good game on the field, has a very warm heart when it comes to the voiceless animals. Dhawan recently became the new face for People for Animals, India's largest, a nonprofit

organization working in the field of animal welfare led by Smt. Maneka Sanjay Gandhi which is supported by a dedicated troupe  of 2.5 lakh volunteers who manage 165 units,26 hospitals, and 60 mobile units across India. PFA runs sterilization programs, ambulance service, and treatment camps.

The NGO rescues and rehabilitates sick and tortured animals and fight cases in court and lobby for animal causes, conduct animal sensitization programs in school, etc.

“I've grown up with dogs and experienced the profound impact they have on our lives, my love for animals is endless and it gives me even more happiness to commit to this sincere cause of working towards their welfare. There is no greater gift than kindness... Eagerly looking forward to this wonderful journey! “said Shikhar Dhawan on this association.

Chairperson Maneka Gandhi said - Over the years many Indian celebrities have come forward to support us. Dhawan has always raised his voice against animal cruelty through his social media platforms.  The association is mainly to introduce people to the very immediate requirement and create awareness about the adoption of Indies dogs and not shop them. At the core of PFA lies a deep-rooted desire to help animals in need. We are working tirelessly to make society a better place for these little angels. We hoped to make more people aware of their needs and hopefully, inspire more people to tap into their deeper selves and teach coming generations to love and respect animals.

Kanika Dewan, Director Partnerships & Strategy at PFA said that the aim of This wonderful association is to bring a change in the thinking of the youth!  The younger and the newer generation connect more strongly to the figures they look up to as mentors! Having Shikhar associate with our noble cause of animal welfare will help us in enlightening generations on animal welfare! We are very grateful to Shikhar Dhawan for believing in us and our cause.
