U15 Youth League: Pune FC look to cement top spot; host arch rivals Mumbai FC
Going into this crucial Round-10 game, Pune FC (25 points) need to avoid defeat to seal their top spot. However, with second-placed Mumbai FC (22 pts) too having a chance of going top, the hosts will need to be focussed on the task at hand.
For the record, Mumbai FC need a win to topple Pune FC from the summit on head-to-head as the first leg between the two sides ended goalless. Given the current scenario, the top spot in the Maharashtra Zone is far from decided and the weekend game, with a lot riding on it, promises to be a cracker.
Speaking on the eve of the big clash, Pune FC Coach Mohan Dass said, “We had a tough draw against Mumbai FC in the first leg, so we need to be cautious. We are not taking any game lightly and expect a similar clash tomorrow. We have been working hard throughout the week and want to get a better result this time around.”
Visitors Mumbai FC come into the big game on the back of a 1-2 loss against Kenkre FC, incidentally their first defeat of the campaign. Pune FC, on the other hand, are the only team with an unbeaten record after their 3-0 win over DSK Shivajians in the previous round and will be confident going into the game. Nonetheless, Coach Mohan Dass wants his team to be confident and avoid complacency against a tricky Mumbai FC side.
“Our team is in good shape. We have been boosted by the availability of a few key players which gives us options going into the game. We are expecting a good game of football and hope to give our best,” added Coach Mohan Dass.
The game at Mamurdi kicks off at 3.30 PM IST on Sunday.
