Virat Kohli loses cool at press conference after series defeat against South Africa
Centurion, Jan 18 (IBNS): After a devastating performance in South Africa, Indian captain Virat Kohli lost his cool while answering a journalist at the post match press conference, on Wednesday.
Kohli took on a South African correspondent when he asked the skipper about his repeated changes in the Indian squad.
Reacting to the question, an angry Kohli said: "How many Test matches have we won out of 30? How many have we won? How many have we won? 21 wins, 2 losses, how many draws?"
Putting a counter question to Kohli, the correspondent asked the Indian skipper, "How many have you won in India?"
Kohli answered, "It doesn't matter, wherever we play, we try to do our best. I am here to answer your questions not to fight with you."
Questions were raised against Indian team management's selections right from the beginning of the series. In the first Test, questions were raised against Rohit Sharma's inclusion in the team in place of Ajinkya Rahane, who has a good record on foreign soil, just on the basis of current form.
The second Test too were not devoid of questions when it came down to the selection criterion.
Ishant Sharma as the replacement of Bhuvneshwar Kumar, who bowled brilliantly in Cape Town in the first Test, did a lot of talks.
Kohli and the South African correspondent's war of words continued when the Indian skipper charged the latter asking, "Answering your question sir, how many times did South Africa came into the game in India? Coming close to winning games in India. Can you count?"
India suffered a massive 135 runs defeat against South Africa on Wednesday and also lost the Test series 2-0 with one match to spare.
Except Kohli, who played a classy 153 runs knock in the first innings, none of the other batsmen in the entire match could even hit a half century.
In the first Test too, India's miserable batting led to the defeat despite a brilliant show put up by the bowlers.
India were defeated by 72 runs by the hosts in the first Test in Cape Town.
India have not won a single Test series in South Africa in the last 25 years.
This is the first series defeat of India under Kohli's full time captaincy.
