World Cup: Australia defeat Sri Lanka by 87 runs

London, June 15 (IBNS): It seems that chances to qualify for the semi-finals is slowly slipping out of the grips of Sri Lanka as they suffered another defeat in a World Cup match this time at the hands of Australia here on Saturday.

Australia defeated her opponent team by 87 runs.

Riding on Aaron Finch's 153 runs knock, Australia posted 334 runs for the loss of seven wickets.

Sri Lanka were then bowled out for 247 runs.

Sri Lankan batsmen completely surrendered infront of the bowling attack.

Karunaratne  remained the  only bright spot in the Sri Lankan batting as he contributed 97 runs with his willow.

Perera contributed 52 runs.

Starc took four wickets for Australia.
